The marauding elephant of Chitwan National Park (CNP), Dhurbe , has reappeared in Madi area in the district and wreaked havoc.
The tusker, which killed an elderly couple in Gardi-9 on December 15, entered the area and tore down five houses at Kalyanpur-6 in Madi on Saturday night. The CNP source said that after dismantling the houses, the jumbo came to the Kasara area. Now the elephant that was believed to have been shot at by security personnel is missing again. "We are searching for the animal but to no avail. We guess it is inside the park area," said acting Conservation Officer Hareram Das. - Ekantipur
